ARTstor Charter Collection currently contains
approximately 300,000 images; by 2006 it is expected to contain
500,000. It documents artistic traditions across many times and
cultures and embraces architecture, painting, sculpture, photography,
decorative arts, and design as well as many other forms of visual
culture.
The primary purpose of ARTstor is the creation and provision of
digital images and related materials for scholarly and educational
use. The providers seek advice, criticism and suggestions so that
they can improve the database based on users' needs, and suggestions
for software adaptations, image quality standards, metadata standards,
and the best approaches to adding new content. Note that ARTstor
is only made available to us on the understanding that we will provide
the regular feedback
they seek, so that they can improve the product based on shared
expertise, experience, and new ideas.
See the Database Trials page for access
